Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about HyperTrade
About HyperTrade
What is HyperTrade?
HyperTrade is a blockchain-based trading platform that lets you trade spot and perpetual futures on stocks, crypto, commodities, and forex. Unlike traditional CFDs or centralized brokers, all trades are executed on-chain. You maintain full control of your funds in your own wallet—we never custody your assets.
How is HyperTrade different from traditional brokers?
Traditional brokers hold your funds in their accounts and execute trades on their systems. HyperTrade is non-custodial: your funds stay in your wallet on the blockchain, and trades are settled directly on-chain. This means you have full ownership and control, with no intermediary holding your assets.
Trading Basics
What are perpetual futures (perps)?
Perpetual futures are derivative contracts that let you trade the price of an asset (like stocks, crypto, or commodities) without owning it. Unlike regular futures, perps don't have an expiration date—you can hold them as long as you want. You can go "long" (betting the price goes up) or "short" (betting the price goes down).
What is leverage?
Leverage lets you control a larger position with less capital. For example, with 10x leverage, you can open a $1,000 position using only $100 of your own money. While leverage amplifies profits, it also amplifies losses. If your position moves against you, you can lose more than your initial deposit. Always use leverage carefully and understand the risks.
What is margin?
Margin is the collateral you need to open and maintain a leveraged position. It's the amount of funds you must have in your account to keep your trade open. If your position loses value and your margin falls below the required level, your position may be liquidated (closed automatically) to prevent further losses.
What is a funding rate?
Funding rates are periodic payments exchanged between long and short traders. If the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; if negative, shorts pay longs. Rates typically update every 8 hours and help keep the perpetual contract price aligned with the underlying asset's spot price. You'll see funding fees deducted or added to your account automatically.
What order types are available?
- Market Order: Executes immediately at the current market price.
- Limit Order: Executes only when the price reaches your specified level.
- Stop Loss: Automatically closes your position if the price moves against you to limit losses.
- Take Profit: Automatically closes your position when it reaches a profitable price level.

Trading & Positions
How does 1-tap trading work?
With the free wallet HyperTrade created for you, your wallet is pre-connected with valid authorization, so you don't need to approve each transaction separately. This makes trading fast and seamless, especially for active traders.
Is moving USDC between perps and spot balances free?
Yes! Moving USDC between perps and spot balances is free.
What is the minimum amount I can execute a trade with?
The minimum amount you can execute a trade with is $10. You might need to clamp the amount a bit higher to avoid rounding and price changes errors.
What assets are available for spot trading?
At the moment, only BTC, ETH, SOL & HYPE are available for spot trading.
Why is there no TP/SL for spot trading?
We are working on adding TP/SL for spot trading, it will be available soon.
What happens if my perps position gets liquidated?
If the position was opened with Isolated margin, only that position will be liquidated and you'll lose the margin you used to open the position. In a cross-margin setup, a single liquidation can potentially wipe out your entire available perps margin balance.
Will my spot balance be liquidated if my perps position gets liquidated?
No, your spot balance will not be liquidated if your perps position gets liquidated. However, if you move usdc from your perps balance to your spot balance while having a perps position open, your liquidation price will be adjusted, manage your risk exposure carefully.
How are trading fees calculated?
Trading fees are clearly displayed before you execute a trade. Fees are typically a small percentage of your trade size and vary based on the asset and whether you are maker or taker.
What is the purpose of funding rate?
Funding rates are periodic payments exchanged between long and short traders. If the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts; if negative, shorts pay longs. Rates help keep the perpetual contract price aligned with the underlying asset's spot price.
Can my live perps position gain from funding rate?
Yes! Your live position can gain from funding rate if the funding rate is negative and you are long or if the funding rate is positive and you are short. Funding rates are displayed clearly in the relative asset page.
How can I reduce exposure to a live perps position?
You can reduce exposure by partially closing your position with a reduce only order. If you are long, you can partially short your position (or vice versa) as long as you have enough margin to cover the new position.
Can I trade multiple assets at once?
Yes! You can open multiple positions across different assets simultaneously. Each position is independent, so you can be long on one asset and short on another. Just make sure you have enough margin to cover all your open positions.
Can I see my trading history?
Yes! Navigate to Profile → "Trade History" to see all your past trades, positions, and P&L (profit and loss) records. You can also view your deposit and withdrawal history in Profile → "Deposit & Withdraw History".
Trading Equities, Commodities & FX
How is it possible to trade stocks and forex on a crypto exchange?
We utilize third party services that allow us to list "Synthetic Perpetuals." These contracts track the price of non-crypto assets (like Nvidia or Gold) without requiring the underlying physical asset.
How does the pricing work for synthetic equities and forex?
Accuracy is maintained via the Pyth Network, a premier institutional oracle. Pyth provides low-latency, high-frequency price feeds directly from global exchanges (like the NYSE or NASDAQ) and major banking institutions. This ensures that the "Mark Price" on your screen reflects the real-time global value of the asset with sub-second precision.
Is trading for stocks and forex 24/7?
Yes! Unlike traditional brokers, these markets never close. When the underlying global markets (like the NYSE) are closed for weekends or holidays, the protocol enters an Internal Pricing Session. You can continue to trade 24/7, but the price is protected by "Discovery Bounds" to prevent irrational volatility while the primary oracle is offline.
What are "Discovery Bounds" and how do they protect me?
Discovery Bounds are leverage-based limits that restrict how far the price can move from the last official closing price.
The Rule
The price can only move within a range of 1 / Max Leverage.
The Benefit
This ensures market participants can trade with confidence during the weekend without fear of "flash crashes" or artificial manipulation.
Discovery Bounds by Asset Class
• Equities (e.g., NVDA, TSLA): Max Leverage 10x, Range ±10% from close.
• Commodities (e.g., Gold, Oil): Max Leverage 20x, Range ±5% from close.
• Forex (e.g., EUR, JPY): Max Leverage 50x, Range ±2% from close.
Why do I get "Open Interest Cap" error when placing a trade on equities, commodities or forex?
Open Interest (OI) represents the total value of all open positions in a market. Each market has a dedicated OI cap to ensure market stability and liquidity. Once this cap is reached, new positions cannot be opened until open interest falls below the specified limit—only existing positions may be reduced or closed.
How it works:
- Popular stocks (e.g., TSLA, NVDA, GOOGL): Caps range from $50M-$100M
- Commodities (e.g., GOLD, SILVER, COPPER): Caps range from $100M-$200M
- Forex pairs (e.g., EUR, JPY): Caps typically $25M
What happens if the market moves too fast for a liquidation?
In extreme market conditions (like a "black swan" event in a stock), if a trader's position cannot be closed in the open market before their margin runs out, the Insurance Fund steps in to cover the loss. This ensures that no user ever "owes" money to the platform; your maximum loss is always limited to your initial margin.
What is "Auto-Deleveraging" (ADL) and how does it affect me?
If the Insurance Fund is unable to cover a massive liquidation, the protocol may trigger Auto-Deleveraging. This is a last-resort safety mechanism where the most profitable, highest-leveraged traders on the opposite side of a failing trade have their positions automatically closed at the "Bankruptcy Price."
